Wind turbine farms and solar farms have big ecological and financial impacts.
Our Sustainable Energy Device avoids all that. Utility Companies
can deploy our new technology throughout their grids at low cost, with
NO impacts at all !
Our Sustainable Energy Device © ® is in your future
Our Sustainable Energy Device (S.E.D.) is totally new, original, unique,
and has not been developed before. ("Sustainable Energy Device"
and "S.E.D." are copyrighted trademarks of PC Research). It
harvests energy from natural sources to produce power for longer periods
than solar PV panels or big wind turbines. It runs itself without
using power, it outputs totally "green" power, it has NO emissions,
it is very inexpensive, it can quickly cut greenhouse gas emissions for
Electric Utility Companies, and it generates 100% green power immediately.
It uses technologies proven to generate 100% green power from totally natural
sources. Where we have excelled is in creating a unique scalable
design and advanced engineering to solve the problems of other green power
sources. Our patented design and architecture eliminates all negative
environmental impacts of large wind turbines, as well as inefficiencies
inherent in PV cells, solar turbines, solar columns and other sustainable-renewable
devices. Our S.E.D. creates NO additional environmental impacts (see
below for details).
Our Sustainable Energy Device completely redefines how Electric Utility
Companies can use 100% green power to meet or exceed their 30% green quota
-- not in decades -- but in just a few years. Our S.E.D. can easily
make Utility Companies green-compliant for decades. When they realize its
economics, Utility Companies will deploy increasingly more S.E.D.s across
their networks, until a major part of their power comes from our technology.
It is THE pivotal technology to rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help save our planet.
We cannot show photos of our S.E.D. here without giving away crucial parts of its unique technology. Any cross patents that could make our innovative new S.E.D. proprietary at this stage would impair everyone's freedom to adapt our S.E.D. to their specific needs. Our new technology must be held by PC Research until all Utility Companies are well on their way to a greener future using our unique S.E.D.

Current Solar Energy Alternatives
1. Solar PV cells in small or large solar farms are too expensive per KW compared to fossil fuels or wind power. New
technologic advancements are needed to get the current $4000-$5000 per
KW down to $2000 per KW or less. The other big problem with solar PV cells
is their low-voltage DC output -- at 12V to 48V DC output, much power is
lost getting this voltage up to high voltages, not to mention the additional
power lost when inverting DC voltage to high voltage AC grid power.
When you realize that current solar panels harvest only 17% of total solar
energy, 15% of that is lost getting ~ 24V up to high voltages, and 20-30%
more power is lost inverting DC to AC -- it means that current solar farms
are only able to harvest 11% of all the sun's power in the desert Southwest.
In cloudier locations, like the south or southeast, the efficiency
is as low as 5-7%.
2. Solar Thermal power either to drive turbines or heat liquids or phase-change solids can produce
higher MW plants than solar PV farms, but only a few are in production
and only in very hot deserts. Overly optimistic reports of the technology's potential don't seem to realize that hot air or water
stored underground loses 50 to 70% of its heat overnight -- and the plants
are limited to hot desert niches.
Also, the idea that U.S. power grids can be converted overnight from H.V.
AC to DC is misjudged. Perhaps if all power converts to H.V. DC, it may be possible, but not with the exclusively
H.V. AC generation at present. It may take 30 years to convert the
nation's grids, at staggering expense.
3. Solar towers are a pipe dream at present, with an astronomical price tag. They rely on wind to
generate electric power, and they are a major construction nightmare offering
one of the lowest possible paybacks. Glowing articles about this idea, of course, never mention the economics.
In reality, solar towers and solar thermal turbines can pollute and are not as environmentally friendly as typical solar panels. Conventional solar PV is the most "green" of all solar power sources, and is the lowest cost per KW per install -- which even then far exceeds wind power costs at present. |

Current Wind Energy Sustainable Alternatives
4. Wind turbines are the lowest cost of today's alternative energy sources. Wind power exceeds current fossil fuel (coal, diesel) costs per KW. Power
from fossil fuels costs from 5c-10c per KWh, even though your electricity
bill shows 13c-15c per KWh. Big wind farms claim 4c-8c per KWh, but adding
in all infrastructure costs, it is likely closer to 8c-15c per KWh (compared
to 5c-10c production cost for coal + diesel).
One must factor in infrastructure costs, otherwise big wind turbine farms
look far too "rosy" financially. Those farms involve major
costs in foundations, buying or leasing land, the interest on large up-front
loans, the expense of high voltage substations, and the major expense of
running new H.V. lines to the main grid. Unless you add in all those
very real costs, you'll never realize how our S.E.D. has big wind farms
beat.
The problem with today's big wind turbines is that they are dinosaur-size
monsters. Their blades span the size of a jumbo jet, they stand 325 feet
high, and they create such a major ecological and environmental impact
in all aspects of human, animal, and environmental degradation, that no
one wants to see or hear them nearby.
And when they catch fire, who will insure them? At $3.7 million per
huge wind turbine (not including crucial infrastructure costs that should
be added in), no one wants to insure these mega-monstrosities. When you
compare their very expensive costs to our very inexpensive and more efficient new S.E.D. technology, you will wonder why you even considered huge wind turbines as your main green power source. |

Cost per KW Install - Alternative Energy Technologies
The table at right shows average figures for many different types of complete
solar and wind farm installations, from small to large. The total
kilowatts or megawatts of the installation, divided by the total cost +
infrastructure, gives a Cost per Kilowatt for each type of installation,
which can be directly compared.
As the size of wind farms grow, the cost per KW of the turbines drop, but
the infrastructure costs remain largely unchanged -- all require up-front
financing, land lease costs, foundations, substations, and new H.V. lines
to the main grid.
That is where our Sustainable Energy Device outstrips all other green power
sources currently used by Utility Companies. There is no "farm"
remote from the main grid, there is no up-front financing needed, no extra
land to buy or lease, no foundation costs, and no substations or H.V. line
runs are needed.
This shows how our S.E.D. is intelligently designed with advanced engineering
to put no extra financial or infrastructure burden on Utility Companies.
It causes no extra ecologic or environmental impact on either remote,
local or urban lands.
In mass production (using a standard 20% cost reduction for high volume),
our innovative new S.E.D. technology approaches half the cost of wind turbine farms. |

Environmental-Human Impact - Alternative Energy Technologies
The table at left compares the Environmental Impacts of Wind and Solar
Farms vs. our S.E.D. Technology. Some features common to all alternative
energy technologies are omitted, e.g., maintenance, installation, consume
energy to make the technology, etc.
The features with green backgrounds are a plus for the technology. Features with white backgrounds are not, even
though all technologies produce 100% green power. The table highlights
why our S.E.D. technology has dramatically lower environmental and human
impacts than big wind or solar farms. It is distributed and does
not involve a farm, hence --
1. No remote lands are impacted, no additional infrastructure like HV lines
and substations are needed, it does not require buying / leasing additional
land, and it has no impact on the natural ecology or the local climate,
other than what already exists at any particular location.
2. To some people, any technology is unsightly, but S.E.D.'s visual / aesthetic
impact is one one-hundredth that of big wind turbines, and significantly
less than arrays of solar panels.
3. Because of our special, unique engineering and innovative design, our
S.E.D. does not impact birds or wildlife, and most important, it harvests ALL natural energy available at any location, something which neither wind farms nor solar farms are able to accomplish.
Studying the two tables so far, how can you not see that our Sustainable
Energy Device should be centerpiece of the future for any Utility Company
wanting to go green A.S.A.P.? Read on, to see some remarkable financial
and power benefits of our S.E.D. technology. |

The above table shows the remarkable advantages (main points in green background)
of our innovative new Sustainable Energy Device --
1. There are no inherent speed or solar limitations to our S.E.D. Whenever
it receives power from natural sources, it makes power in direct proportion
to the power input to the S.E.D. The output duration is not limited
by the sun, nor is it limited to a narrow range of wind speeds, as are
today's propeller wind turbines. Whatever the total joule power input into
the S.E.D., it converts all input efficiently to output power.
2. The power output curve is not flat or cut as in solar or wind
farm technology -- there are not theoretical limitations to how much power
the S.E.D. can absorb, utilize and convert into usable power in a grid
setting. Some power loss to H.V. upscaling is inherent in all technologies.
3. The efficiency of our S.E.D. is at least twice that of solar panels
or wind turbines, both in the power it can utilize, and in the amount of
power it can output, for at least twice as long, under typical conditions.
Hence the power efficiency ratio is 4x to 5x more than solar and wind turbines.
4. Longevity and obsolescence is much longer than PV panels or propeller
turbines, maintenance is lower, the install lifetime could be double the
other technologies, and it has no significant fundamental operational limitations,
as do solar panels and big wind turbines.
5. Compared to fossil fuel burning (coal or diesel), it is 2-3x more efficient
than solar, and 1.5x to 2x more efficient than large wind turbines at creating
HV power per input energy. Our S.E.D. also has the capability to
overtake burning of fossil fuels at least 2-3x faster than either solar
or wind turbines -- because it is so easy, quick, and cheap to deploy.
It is the future that all Utility Companies need to adopt, now.

The above table uses complex calculations with $ figures at Aug. 2008 to
compare alternative energy technologies in uniquely new ways. Comparative
economics are normalized to $1000 installed cost, $1 million invested cost,
or $300 million "average" farm cost -- to compare the economics
of each technology fairly, on balance.
|
The above table shows the remarkable cost savings (main points in green highlight) of our innovative new Sustainable Energy Device --
1. The low cost per KW of our S.E.D., comparable to wind turbines, as well as the absence of any
infrastructure costs, are one of the main features making our S.E.D. so much more cost effective than solar and wind farms
in all calculations that follow. ( Of course, this was one of the most important criteria in our design and engineering --
unless it can match the lowest-cost green technology available, and eliminate the many infrastructure costs
that are conveniently omitted from other green technology economics, it cannot offer a greatly superior advantage. )
2. Whereas both solar PV and wind turbine farms require a certain size and up-front cost to be worth even
installing, our S.E.D. technology does not. There is no minimum or maximum limit to our technology
, it is completely scalable to one's needs, and the green cost savings is the same per device, regardless of how
many devices are installed. Electric Utility Companies can install 100, 1000, or 10,000 at a time, to suit their logistical
needs, budgetary constraints, and they can avoid any up-front financing costs, interests on loans, and new site expenses.
3. The other key factor in our S.E.D. being more economical than wind turbines or solar PV panels is that it can produce
power 2X longer per day than solar or wind turbine farms. Again, this was intentional in our unique design and
engineering. Our S.E.D. could produce power 24 hours per day, but in most situations,12 hours per day is quite realistic.
This is double the power output duration of wind and solar farms in typical conditions. We have not even
compared capacity figures, because our S.E.D. may have twice the capacity factor as wind or solar.
4. So, combining a realistic 2X longer run time, with a cost per KW equaling wind turbines, but without any infrastructure costs,
and the ability to generate power when wind turbines and solar panels cannot, what we have designed and engineered
represents at least a 2X up to to 8X increase in power output per day over wind and solar technologies. The most crucial figure
in the above table is -- KWh per day per $1000 invested -- Solar is 1.2,
wind turbines are 4.0, and our S.E.D. is 12.0 -- fully 10 times more efficient than solar, and 3X better than wind.
5. However, comparing lifetime power outputs, the superior economics of our Sustainable Energy Device is even more remarkable. At a baseline of $300 million invested in each technology, wind farms
produce 3 times as much power as solar farms, and over a 20 year lifetime, our S.E.D. produces 7 times as much power
as huge wind turbines -- all because of its greater efficiency and longer run times.
6. Considering fossil fuels saved by green technologies, a $300 million
investment in our S.E.D. could save at least $400 million in coal, or a staggering $2 billion in crude oil over a 20 year period. This is a 6X return on every $ invested in the technology, with no interest
to pay! It also eliminates 5 million tons of CO2 in the atmosphere per $300 million
invested in S.E.D., which substantially helps cut global warming.

The Future of Solar PV farms, huge Wind Turbine Farms, and our Sustainable
Energy Device
|
Solar PV Panel Future
In the table above, Solar PV panels seem the least attractive of all alternative energy technologies, yet in an earlier table
on Environmental Impacts, they had a higher green ranking than wind turbines. So what is their problem?
Simply one of cost -- current solar panel technology makes the panels too expensive to be
cost-per-KW competitive with huge wind turbines, or our innovative new
Sustainable Energy Device.
That may change very quickly. New research just announced by IBM (see this article), is typical of many companies racing to drive down the price of solar
panels dramatically. Our $4000 per KW is already today's lowest,
but knowing IBM research's technical abilities, it is likely that in a
few years, solar PV panels could drop to $500 to $800 per KW. That
would substantially alter their economics shown in the table above.
Instead of 10 to 25 MW plants, 50 to 200 MW plants could be built for the
same price. This would boost their 1.2 KW / day / $1000 cost up to
6 to 8 KW / day / $1000 cost. Solar PV panels would overtake wind turbines as a better greener
power source, in one stroke. They could serve
6000-8000 homes / year / $million, beating wind
farms there too. They could output 12,000 Gigawatt hours in a lifetime
(half of S.E.D.'s capability), and dramatically increase savings of fossil
fuels to $1 billion / year of oil saved. They would eclipse wind
turbines on all counts.
A caution to all U.S. Utility and global Power Companies --
keep a close eye on solar PV panel technology in the next 5 years -- it has the potential for the greatest leapfrog advancement of all alternative
energy technologies -- its future is tied to the price of solar panels,
and once that drops to $500 to $800 / KW, Power Companies who invest $billions
in huge-turbine wind farms may wish they had saved some for solar.
Huge Wind Turbine Future
In contrast to the certainty of big price drops in solar PV panels, huge
wind turbines are at the end of their lifetimes for any major technologic
changes that could slash their costs. They will always be expensive
to build, maintain, transport, and install. With foundation + infrastructure,
their total costs will eventually eat this species alive -- as smaller,
more efficient and less costly substitutes appear, like our new S.E.D.
Our dinosaur analogy is germane -- when a species grows too huge and costly to sustain, strains
the environment, and can only survive in one niche, it's hit an evolutionary
dead end. Dinosaurs were supplanted by smaller, more adept, efficient,
and widely diversified mammals. Every Utility Company needs to adopt some
green power source to help save our planet -- the more and the sooner, the better. Just don't risk all your money on dinosaurs, when a more practical
and versatile alternative is already available at much lower cost.
Our forward looking scientists already see how huge wind turbines are limited
to one special niche -- windy unpopulated areas like West Texas and North
Dakota -- and that U.S. niche is shrinking. If they are to be built,
they might as well be built there now, because they are not acceptable
in the West and East Coasts or most of Europe -- such populous, ecologically
sensitive areas cannot handle their impacts.
Sustainable Energy Device Future
In coming years, smaller, more efficient devices harvesting a wider spectrum of all available energy for longer each day will replace lower efficiency propeller wind turbines, which have low capacity
factors and typically harvest only 5% of all natural energy available at
a site. New devices should harvest at least 10-35% of all natural power,
which our S.E.D. is designed to do.
The tables above show our innovative new Sustainable Energy Device to be first in a new breed
of higher efficiency green energy devices, with greater scalability, versatility,
and lower cost per KW than huge turbines. Utility companies seeking
the latest, low-cost, high-efficiency green power source need look no further
than our S.E.D. Ahead of its time and not conceived of before, it
is deployable at any scale desired.
Our Sustainable Energy Device is 2X - 6X more efficient than current solar
or wind power technologies, it is truly a zero emission device giving 100%
green power, there is NO environmental impact from its deployment or use,
there is NO infrastructure costs or big up-front financing, it is scalable
to any need, and the payback can be up to 6 times the total investment
in our innovative new S.E.D. technology.
What more could any Utility Company ask? Throughout these pages,
we have not exaggerated our S.E.D.'s potential -- instead, we've given
a very conservative view of our S.E.D. If we hyped up its true potential,
Utility Companies might not believe it, and miss the opportunity to jump
on this leading technology right now, and start deploying it immediately,
to quickly and cheaply spread green power across the nation's grids.
All Utility Companies who enthusiastically embrace our innovative new Sustainable
Energy Device now, can get on the fastest track to green power at far less
expense with our S.E.D. than with any other alternative-energy technologies
available today. Utility Companies and all U.S. consumers are the
real beneficiaries of our new S.E.D. technology -- as well as the global
climate, and our precious planet.
